Superpages becomes the second major local search destination to add video advertising after Citysearch did so recently (in partnership with TurnHere). Other local search and yellow pages sites with video include DexKnows (published by RH Donnelley), Smalltown, SavoyNewYork and MojoPages. And there are an increasing number of travel sites that have video as well.

On Friday, the Google LatLong Blog announced the company had acquired ImageAmerica, “a company that builds high resolution cameras for the collection of aerial imagery.” Google plans to use the capabilities in Google Maps and Earth. ImageAmerica provided some of the high-resolution post-Hurricane Katrina images (no longer available) in Google Earth.

Gary Price points us to a recent IDC online ad forecast that says search will lose some of its appeal as display (specifically video) ads become more popular and prevalent online. In another Where 2.0 related announcement — they just keep coming this morning — Skyhook Wireless has released toolbar/platform Loki 2.0. Loki is kind of like the Firefox of local search. Once downloaded, it determines your location through wifi triangulation and removes the need to enter location when performing a local search.

Google has just launched a mobile version of Google Calendar, which is supposed to load for those visiting the Google Calendar site with a mobile phone. Google describes it more in a blog post today. It appears to work on a range of phones, including Windows Mobile.
According to the Wall Street Journal (subscription required), “Inform Technologies LLC, which is based in New York, said 16 online publications plan to include its new search function. Among them are WashingtonPost.Newsweek Interactive’s Newsweek.com and Conde Nast’s Portfolio.com.”
Today Google introduced a “closed beta” that allows for the in-stream insertion of ads in video content on its AdSense network. Here’s the Inside AdSense explanation: “[W]e’re extending AdSense to online video content. Publishers in this test will be able to define at what point in their videos that streaming video ads will appear.”
